The Ven. Ovadacariya Sayadaw U Panditabhivamsa of Myanmar on 29 July 1921, received his bhikkhu ordination in 1941. After years of intense studies he earned degrees as a Dhamma Teacher (Dhammacariya) and as a Cetiyangana Abhivamsa between 1949 and 1952. Saya-daw U Kundalabhivamsa was born on June 6, 1921. He is the second son of U Tha Phyo and Daw Pu To of Winkadat Village in Waw Township in Pegu division. He was initiated into the Order of the Buddhist Clergy as a novice at the age of ten.
